Artist's Comments

Comments are wonderful and I don't know why I am so bad at dealing with them. I get big knots in my stomach knowing that I get further and further behind. I should have good manners and make sure I thank everyone who compliments my work--especially those by the great artists whose opinion I've learned to value most of all. But I can't look through all my comments and do the most important first. And I don't want to delete any without responding. So I really don't respond to many. I just get wrapped up in this bizarre perfectionist guilt. It takes so long to respond to a single comment. I can't reply to a batch and hit SEND on the whole batch. Getting that page-not-found...well, you know the same frustrations. Some of you manage, and some of you are having the same anxiety I have. I hope nobody thinks I'm ignoring you.

The truth of the matter is I'm rarely in the right frame of mind to type to many people. I generally write longer notes to single people. And my wrists quit first. And I would rather do art than type "You're welcome" and "Thank you so much!" even when I mean it with all my heart.

You can count on me to fave what I love and to feature the best of what I fave in my journal. I hope you know that I can't give anything a better compliment. As for the people who say such kind things about my art, you are helping me so much right now and you deserve better online manners from me. Give me that BATCH COMMENT ability, to SEND twenty individual replies at a time, and I know you'd find me communicating better. I might as well have cheap, bad dialup service, sometimes when I'm trying to comment here. I've tried just turning comments off. That feels so much like telling my friends to SHUT UP. That's not right at all. *sigh*

DA gave us the FAVE button and it works quickly and says everything I usually have to say, anyway. I know every artist wants more than that but given our limitations, I hope you know that :+fave: means :+favelove:

Give some love to :iconnntr:, no need to reply, who singlehandedly is taking on the Evil Empire of time-destroying smalltalk in comments.

I totally agree with you!
I always get way behind on my messages, and even though I really want to answer all off them,I don't have the time to do it. I don't want to sit and type 'Thank you' messages when I can make fractals instead;P

That would be the healthy, type "B" thing to do. I sit here and stress instead because I think I have to reply individually. That's Type A, perfectionist, ulcerated, procrastinating, have-a-stroke-for-no-reason me.
